Code 1 - PLAIN
Natural steel finish
PLAIN means no finish, it is the natural color of the material. If a plain steel part is heat treated it will darken considerably unless it is pickled after heat treating to remove the scale.
Code 2 - PHOSPHATE & OIL
Natural steel finish
PHOSPHATE & SEALER. AMK utilizes Zinc Phosphate, a chemical conversion of the surface producing zinc crystals which becomes “home” for the sealer that provides basic corrosion protection. If a Phosphate steel part was heat treated it can exhibit a considerably darker shade than a soft steel part, especially if high carbon steel. Proper pickling strips surface contaminants and is crucial for the phosphate process to be successful and for a uniform finish.
Code 100B - BLACK 100 HOUR SALT SPRAY
Natural steel finish
100 HOUR SALT SPRAY BLACK. AMK utilizes Delta Seal Black for Zinc Phosphate applications which require extra corrosion protection. The process starts with phosphate but instead of sealer a thin, extremely resistant coating is applied. The appearance is uniform and closely similar to normal phosphate & sealer.
Code 44 - ZINC & BLACK
Natural steel finish
ZINC & BLACK. AMK utilizes zinc & black hexavalent chromate mostly for applications for which it was originally specified.
Code 7 - CADMIUM & WAX
Natural steel finish
CADMIUM & WAX. We utilize .0002″ cadmium & wax which offers an attractive “soft-silver” appearance and good corrosion resistance. Cadmium has natural lubricating properties making it ideal for prevailing torque locknuts such as Hex Locknuts and Flange Locknuts.
Code 8 - ELECTROLYTIC ZINC & WAX
Natural steel finish
ELECTROLYTIC ZINC & WAX. We utilize .0002″ zinc & wax which offers a pleasant appearance and reasonable corrosion resistance. There are two types of zinc finishing: zinc with hexavalent (chromium) passivation and zinc with trivalent passivation. AMK prefers the appearance and environmental benefits of the trivalent process and therefore most of our zinc plated products are trivalent.
Code 13 - CHROME
Natural steel finish
CHROME. AMK utilizes a chrome alternative. It looks the same but does not include hexavalent chromium. This finish is the same as Code 45.
Code 36 - ELECTROLYTIC ZINC & YELLOW
Natural steel finish
ELECTROLYTIC ZINC & YELLOW. AMK utilizes zinc & yellow hexavalent chromate for many applications.
